As the school year begins, freshmen and new students could be wondering – what is ASB?

ASB stands for Associated Student Body, and it represents the interests and goals of the entire Redwood High School Student Body.

At Redwood, ASB is responsible for putting together rallies, decorating the school for events, spirit week, and bringing as much school spirit and excitement as possible.

ASB President, Taylor Langford, ‘25, says, “I feel like ASB is able to impact Redwood in such a positive way because we are a class that’s full of leaders who all share such a strong love for Redwood.”

Sophie Del Villar, ‘27, is a first-year ASB member. She thinks ASB is necessary for a positive school environment. She said, “They really add to the school spirit.”

Ms. Aston, the ASB advisor, says ASB is necessary for a positive school atmosphere. “Without ASB, then we lose a lot of the spirit aspects that are provided by the school,” says Ms. Aston.

ASB is the organizing group for most events. They supply balloons and streamers at football games, decorations at volleyball games, and much more.

Leaders make up ASB. They act as spokespeople for the entire student body. Being in ASB is hard work. They’re responsible for work behind the scenes that you would never think about.

“We put so much time and effort into really bringing out the best of Redwood and making it the best it can be,” says Langford.
