Second semester Club Day was a success. Wednesday January 26, all the clubs on campus as well as ASB have done many things to prepare for this exciting event.
Mrs. Aston, director of student activities anticipated this event to be very exciting. Aston explains that Club Day is important because it has the potential to help students meet new people and get involved in many clubs.
Aston says, “We are bringing some fun activities just to get people excited, I just want people to have a good time.”
Club Day this semester is definitely going to look a tad different from last semester. Brielle Alvarez, ’22, ASB president, explains, “This time, we are actually having yummy food to bring (Canes, Panda Express, Jamba Juice) that gets more people to be involved, it also gives them another reason to be there.”
Alvarez herself is involved in multiple clubs including ASB, CSF, & Key Club which are all recruiting.
ASB is responsible for setting up signs, tables, and waiting for people to join. Alvarez advises students to join clubs, “Don’t be afraid to be yourself, go out there and join clubs, you won’t know until you try.”
Jasmine Luna, ’22 and Nizhoni Kears, ’22 are co-presidents of Students for Climate Action club. Luna mentions, “It’s great to see more students show up to our table, now that we have done more clean ups and more students are getting involved with community service activities.”
Luna and Kears encouraged many students to come sign up for their annual nature retreat, “Rio Limpio,” this retreat involves cleaning up the Tule River. The club hopes to have at least 30 participants. For more information regarding Rio Limpio, visit @students4climate_visalia on Instagram.
A new club is joining Club Day this semester. Club 55 is a mental health awarness club and overall a safe place for members and Redwood students.
President Siella Beswick, ’23 shares, “We are planning on creating activities that really lift the spirits and bring happiness to people.” Positive impact and mental health is a passion of the club staff members.
