Art is a way people can express themselves and make awesome creations. Emma Souza ’23 is an amazing artist who expresses herself freely through her artwork.
Souza is in two different art classes at Redwood. She is in 2D Art 4, the most advanced art class Redwood has, and 3D Art 1.
To Souza art means “Expressing yourself pretty much, any mood I have if I am happy or if I’m sad I’ll just draw to just express myself and my feelings.”
There are many different ways to create art but Souza says “Prismacolor markers are my favorite”. While everyone has a preference for what they use to make art, Souza says that water painting is the most difficult for her.
Souza has been interested in art since she was a little kid. She realized she was actually getting good at it when she would get feedback from her peers. Souza says “My classmates they would just come around me and say like woah that looks really cool”.
Souza never really needed to practice art because she’s always been good at it. She says “I haven’t even took much art classes it’s just natural”.
Most people have an influence or inspiration for their art. Whether it be an object, person, or even a place.
Souza says “I was influenced by my grandma because she’s an artist too and she got me into being a more creative person”.
She says that her grandma is her favorite artist.
