Richard Owen Holmes Montgomery (born April 3, 1993), known professionally as Ricky Montgomery (stylized as RICKY MONTGOMERY), is an American singer-songwriter.
He has countless albums released from the late 2010s. He has just released a new album titled “Rick”, the hype has been building up among his fanbase ever since it was announced on Sep 18, 2023, it was even more anticipated since it is his first studio album in 7 years.
‘Rick’ is his first full-length album on Warner Records, a labyrinthine alt-pop collection of stories about life in all its messy and mundane glory.
Rick is only Montgomery’s sophomore album, but it’s rich with maturity, down to the title itself.
In this album, there is a long-awaited list of tracks. The songs include, ‘Don’t Say That’, ‘Boy Toy‘, ‘Black Fins’, ‘Eraser’, ‘In Your Pocket’, ‘I’m Just Joking in This Interlude (interlude)’, ‘One Way Mirror’, ‘Ribbons (outro)’, ‘Ethan’s Song’, ‘We Got Married Twice (interlude)’, ‘Sometimes I Need to Be Alone’, ‘Truth or Dare Type A’, and ‘Paper Towel’.
All of the songs on the album are catchy and have a replay value that’s fairly high for a new album, so it will fit in well with a playlist full of alternative/indie pop songs.
One song from this album is ‘Boy Toy‘. The meaningful lyrics fit well with the background riffs and beats, and they can be relatable to listeners.
The 7 years of development in making this album gave it quality, making the songs more smooth and unrushed like other artists trying to push out music consistently.
Audrinna Pesqueira ’27 says, “I like the new Ricky Montgomery album, it has a lot of really good songs.” She is a long-time fan of the singer, her favorite songs from Ricky are, “‘Line Without a Hook’ and ‘This December‘.” which are both from his previous album, Montgomery Ricky.
Hopefully, these tracks will satisfy the long-time fans of Ricky, as well as new people who just like to listen to songs that they think sound good.
