Redwood Varsity Football will travel to Porterville to face the Monache Marauders on Friday, October 11th. The Rangers had a tough start to the season starting 0-5, but after last week the Rangers now have a win under their belt and expect to continue securing wins.

Going into the second half of season, the Rangers will be playing locally. What was expected to be the toughest part of the season is over.

#17 Xavier Retiz, ‘25, says, “We are going to keep our mentality going and we are going to be more hyped, and hopefully just keep the wins going.”

The Rangers seem to have an expected turn out to this week’s game. Retiz says “They’re not that good. They are more of a run team. They run the ball a lot, they don’t really pass.”

#50 Juan Gutierrez, ‘25, says “I’m pretty confident. We beat them, the entire time I’ve been here, we’ve beat them every year and it’s never been close. It’s been a blow out every year.”

This next half of the season has the Rangers excited for a turnaround.

Gutierrez says, “The first five games of the season were the hardest. I think really our only challenging game left is Golden West, but they have also only been playing really bad teams, so we really don’t know how good they actually are.”

Heading up against Monache, confidence is at a high for the Rangers. Gutierrez says, “We got our confidence up. We lost five in a row, then we played an undefeated team last week and we beat them pretty easily.”

Retiz says “We’re gonna come out with this dub.”
