Alejandro Morales- Sports Writer
I am a sports writer for the Gigantea and I have been helping write stories for RHS since 2022. I primarily write stories on sports. I have learned that Rangers love to see themselves doing cool stuff and I am happy to help them get stories that they love reading. I am particularly proud of my work that covers sports that many people never go to watch. Being able to write stories about our athletics is amazing because it gives our athletes recognition from people around town and the world.
Semester 1 Stories
Redwood’s Mens Polo Brothers Shine Together On Same Team
Following my first story I wrote my second story on two brothers on the Boys Varsity Water Polo team. David Ross '26 played alongside his older brother Joseph Ross '23 on the varsity team. I would say this is a privilege as this doesn't occur a lot.
This is special because being alongside family is one of the greatest things can happen and both of them shined on the team.
Boys Water Polo Beats Liberty In Home Opener In Blowout Fashion
This is the first ever sports story I ever wrote for the Redwood Gigantea. I did it on the Boys Varsity Water Polo team and how they won their game against Liberty in a blowout fashion. Bringing out the athletic side of Redwood is amazing because our teams are competitive.
Being a sports writer is one of the best things I can ever do. It's a hobby I enjoy doing and I'm gonna continue writing on sports.
Reflection
Where have I been?
I expected Journalism to be a class where you go and interview people to be able to write stories. The second I stepped into this class I knew I was right about it. The class itself is really cool and the environment is welcoming.
Where am I now?
I can interview people. I can create stories from my interviews. I can help friends out with their interviews.
Where am I going?
Two personal goals I want to achieve next semester is to win a league championship and a valley title. A goal for my section is to help out more. Give a helping hand to the ones need it.
