This homecoming theme for dress-up days and the week is Marvel, students get to dress up and participate in homecoming week with the option of being creative and dressing up for the Marvel theme,

The homecoming dress-up days for the week of 9/28 – 10/2 are: Monday: Class Central/colors, Tuesday: Dress as your favorite Marvel character, Wednesday: Brains vs. Brawns, Thursday: Dress as a trio, and Friday: Wear Spider-Man attire for homecoming.

Mr. Siqueiros said, “I feel like everyone has a favorite Marvel character that they remember growing up as a kid or that they’re still continuing to follow, so I feel like our dress-up days can connect with anyone.”

Students have wondered how this theme was introduced to Redwood for homecoming and why it became the big theme for the week.

Kadence Hetherington, 28’, said, “We sparked the idea of wanting to make it Spider-Man, and we were going down that route for a while because the first Spider-Man movie is called Spider-Man: Homecoming. We thought it was perfect, and that Marvel was way bigger because if we just stuck with Spider-Man, it’s kind of hard to do a lot with just one movie and one character, so we decided to branch out and include all of Marvel.”

Hetherington is the ASB spirit coordinator, her responsibilities are being in charge of lunchtime activities, and she had to come up with a lot of games for the luncheon on Friday, she runs a team, and they make the decorations, triwall, and photo ops that really decorate the school to make it look more Marvel-themed.

Adrian Lopez Guzman, 27’, said, “I think that it’s more exciting, I feel like we really took our time on these to put them on theme, I had my team work on these, especially, I like how we’re involving a group of kids to get together and actually go out of their way to plan their outfits.”

Adrian is the ASB president, he makes sure everybody is on task and organizes everything, making sure everything goes well for the students, also makes sure they have student engagement throughout everything, with just having fun activities at every single event, including homecoming.

Homecoming week is one of the busiest weeks of the year, especially for the ASB students, they have to make posters, decorate, come up with new ideas for the theme, and make sure everything goes smoothly according to their plans.

Mr. Siqueiros said, “I want to say the Spider-Man movie was a hit right before we came back from school, so it just allowed our kids to expand off of the movie, and we wanted to connect with more characters, with more students. So we felt like creating a Marvel theme would do that.”
