“Yellow and Green” is about growth with longtime friends or, in the band’s case, their bandmates, since they have all been a band and friends for a while, and their bond continues to grow as they continue their music career.

“These Days” explores the heavy monotony, loneliness, and aimlessness of everyday life as the tune begins to go into a monotone mode compared to the first song on the album.

“Better Man” is the third song on the album, which originally came out as a single on June 10th. The song is about letting go of toxic self-control, accepting oneself, and dealing with negative thoughts about oneself.

“Melodie” is named after the album and is about making peace with the fact that life is constantly changing, and learning to deal with the changes that occur and let go of the past without losing yourself in the process.

“Red Car” is a metaphor for a fresh start, as the lyrics in the song say “little red car” for wanting to get away from the problems one may be dealing with. It also uncovers a yearning to escape personal problems and to flee from them or to want those problems to change.

“Not for Nothing” was originally released as a single on July 7th. This song is a ballad about the painful process of letting go of someone after a series of heartbreaks. “What I see looking in your eyes: a million miles, a million lives. Oh, learning how to let go of you, that’s the hardest part for me to get through.” captures emotional distance and the realization that two people have grown apart.

“Entertainer” is the seventh song that was released on the album. The meaning behind the song is about the internal conflict of holding onto someone bad for you while struggling with the pain of letting go.

“Like Me” is about self-doubt and the struggle to accept love and validation. This song explores how self-doubt can feel weirdly safe and finding comfort in negativity.

“Spill” is another song that came out as a single too before being on the album. “Spill” is about the pain of casual dating and the anxiety of waiting for someone to express real love. “Would you tell me that you love me?” shows exhaustion with mixed signals and half-commitments, longing for clear, spoken truth.

“Up to You” is the tenth song on the album, which explores the emotional vulnerability and uncertainty of a relationship where one person is waiting to see if their partner will match their effort and commitment. The track captures the tense feelings of handing control of the relationship’s future to the other person, with the final choice being up to you.

“Slip Away” is the final song on the album, which is an emotional closing track about facing life’s endings, dealing with past anxieties, and the human urge to retreat from pain.

Based on all of the individual analyses of each song, the album as a whole mostly covers loss, personal change, and looking back at the past to make sense of growing up.
