April 27th through May 1st, at Redwood High School’s ASB is holding their elections for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Rally Commissioner is the position that is in charge of the rallies that Redwood students attend. The candidates for this position are; Stella Hense, ‘28, and Ava Dodson, ‘28.

Stella Hense says that she is a person who cares a lot about Redwood, she’s also in dance, and in multiple clubs.

She says people should vote for her because, “I have a lot of good ideas for rallies and I have a lot of things that I wanna bring, that I haven’t been able to yet.”

Hense says that she wants to bring the energy from football games into rallies.

She also wants to, “make everyone feel included in rallies, not like they’re just sitting there to watch it.”

Hense wants people to know that she wants everyone to feel included as well as making sure everyone has fun.

Dodson says that she is a performer, a leader, and a person who strives to be the best version of herself that she can be.

Dodson says people should vote for her because, “my main goal in being Rally Commissioner is to get student engagement. And, I want people to want to be at the rallies. I want people to be excited for all the rallies, and that’s my main goal.”

Dodson wants to incorporate current trends into rallies, as well as more engaging games during the rallies.

She wants people to know that, “I’m always gonna be someone that you can confide in and I’m always gonna be willing to help people, and I’m willing to do everything I can for the rallies if I get elected as Rally Commissioner.

She also says, “if I were to be elected for Rally Commissioner, I would take everyone’s input very seriously and I want people to give me ideas that they would want in the rallies”

There is also a student in running for the Athletics Commissioner position, the candidate is Adrian Melgar, ‘27.

Melgar says, “I think people should vote for me because I really want to recognize all sports because in this school we don’t really hear enough from our swim team, people that play golf or tennis and athletes like that.”

Melgar puts emphasis on giving recognition to all student athletes rather than just certain ones.

Melgar says that he wants to make a Redwood player of the week, where they would get an award for being the top performer in their sport.

Melgar says, “I’m willing to do anything that will improve sports and in school in general.”
