ASB and the three winners of the Homecoming parade share their thoughts on hosting and winning the parade.

Pink, glitter, and school spirit filled the air at this year’s RHS homecoming parade, which brought students together in the bowl for a Barbie-themed celebration like no other.
From handmade decorations to music blasting across the field, the event was a burst of creativity and community pride. And the best part?
Three clubs walked away with individual wins: Interact for Most on Theme, Choir for Most Creative, and Hip Hop Club for Best “Kenergy”.
For students, the experience of building and showing off floats was just as meaningful as the awards themselves.
Serenity Navaro, ‘26, a member of the Interact club, shares her experience of building the Interact float.
She says, “I feel proud about being part of the parade and proud of all the members and officers helping us build those awesome floats and devoting time; it was truly a team effort.”
Elena Leon, ‘26, a member of Choir, says, “I felt very happy. It’s always fun to show off what your club does.”
The judging process was a highlight of the event, giving each float a chance to shine in front of a panel.
Xavier Legaspi, ‘27, is ASB’s spirit coordinator and shares how the judges were picked and the requirements they faced.
Xavier says, “The parade winners this year were selected by 3 judges: Nancy Rodriguez, Brittany Larabee, and Dez Gonzalez. They were given two categories (most on theme and most creative) and they came up with the category, “Best Kenergy”.
The introduction of “Best Kenergy” added a playful, Barbie-inspired twist that instantly became a favorite among students.

Joshua Matsumoto, who is the Hip-Hop Clubs advisor, shares how they feel about winning “Best Kenergy”.
Mastsumoto says, “It’s very exciting, I can’t wait to tell the club about it. We’re going to meet up today, and I think it’s going to be a great motivator for the club.”
Instead of narrowing the parade to a single winner, ASB made the intentional decision to recognize more clubs.
Xavier adds, “There were so many parade floats this year, and it would be impossible to only recognize one since so many fall in the same category.”
