Andee May ‘26, is currently a middle blocker/hitter on the Redwood varsity volleyball team.
As May is the only sophomore on varsity, she says, “I’m considered the “baby” of the team, because I’m the youngest.”
May says, “I’ve always loved playing volleyball, but I never really trained until I joined club last year in the off season to prepare myself for bigger competition.”
In the 22-23 season, May played for Redwood on the frosh team. After that season, she joined the Dinamite Volleyball Club at age 15, which helped lead her to where she is now.
Redwood’s Volleyball spring training was also a huge help towards May’s path towards Varsity.
May says, “I went to Spring training for Redwood, and I was asked to be moved up to play with the Varsity girls. It was hard work to keep up with them since they’ve all played with each other before.”
She adds, “But the coaches believed that I could make it and kept pushing me to do better.”
As the 23-24 season has just taken off, May says, “I’m really excited to have a competitive season and to make strong friendships with the varsity girls.”
She adds by saying, “I’ve wanted to be with the varsity girls ever since I saw them play and I feel very honored to have that chance and I feel that I’m learning so much from them.”
