Jenna Landin - Arts Writer
I am an arts writer for the Redwood Gigantea and have been in this section since the beginning of the 2022/2023 school year. I enjoy writing stories about certain events and things that Redwood put together like performances and plays. I have learned that everyone has their own thing that they enjoy and love to do. I find it interesting finding out what people like to do most and what their perspective is on it. From being a journalist I've learned to be able to talk to others and be introduced to new groups of people at Redwood. What makes my work important is it shows other Redwood students what others accomplish. I am proud of myself for being able to inform others of some of the events happening at Redwood.
Semester 1 Stories
Redwood's Fall Play Brings Twist to Familiar Stories:
This story is about Redwood's first fall play of the year. Two members of the play were interviewed and asked questions about how they were feeling about it and for more experienced members, how this play would be different from past years. The theater director talks about how excited she was for the play. She also mentions how entertaining it will be so many people should go see it.
This story matters because it brought light to the upcoming play at the time and it allowed more people to know about it and see it. This informed the Redwood students and staff that didn't already know about it. This helps our reader community be educated on what's coming up.

Reflection
In this area, reflect on your growth. This work should have three parts.
Where have I been?
I expected Journalism to be kind of like an easier English class where you can choose your own stories to write and write whatever you want. I had no idea that I would be writing for the Redwood Gignatea. It's definitely a lot different than what I expected it to be like.
Where am I now?
Now that I've been part of journalism for a whole semester, I think I've definitely learned a lot about writing and interviewing. At the beginning, I was very scared to start interviewing people because I wasn't sure what I would say. But now I'm a lot more comfortable with it and feel more confident with myself when interviewing.
Where am I going?
I want to write at least 5 stories next semester and possibly try writing a story for a different section just so I have a variety of stories. I want to be able to write stories that I enjoy writing and find what kind of stories I really like to write and am interested in.
