I am Ace Ulloa and I write for the Arts and Entertainment section in the Redwood Gigantea the type of stories that I write are about the band and other types of dramas and arts. I have learned many things from being in Journalism such as you have to be on time with deadlines. What is important in the work I do is we tell the stories of the students at Redwood. What I am proud of doing for the Gigantea is that I can be a part of the newspaper and tell stories of the students.
Semester 1 Stories
What is Redwood Stagecraft?
Stagecraft is a drama elective class that this taught by Mrs. Galvan. Some things that Stagecraft helps with are problem-solving and dealing with power tools. Stagecraft is the study of all things that are technical in the theater. And this indicates one of my Journalism strengths which is I can be determined to finish a story. I feel that I have done a good job reporting because I put down every important piece of information from the interviews.
The reason these stories matter is because it is important to voice the opinions and the things that the students of Redwood do and their activities.
Reflection
I feel that I have been growing a lot this year in many ways such as I feel that I have been the most outgoing I have ever been and I have grown into a better student such as being more on time with work and making more friends so I feel that I have had a lot of growth this year.
Where have I been?
What I thought Journalism was going to be about learning about the basics of how to be a journalist but what it is actually is interviewing people and doing actual stories that go on the newspaper.
Where am I now?
I have gained many skills from being in Journalism such as learning to watch out for deadlines and get stories published and also to get in touch with people fast because the stories are important another skill I have learned was to talk to people less awkwardly and I gained the skill to not be as shy anymore.
Where am I going?
Two personal goals I have for next semester are to get in touch with more family members that I have not seen in a while and to get better grades in classes. One goal I have for next semester for Journalism is to stick with it and keep doing it and get better at writing stories and a better student.
