Nick Miller- Photographer
I am a sports and lifestyle photographer for the Gigantea and I have been helping share images from RHS since 2009. I primarily shoot sports photography, but I also cover rallies and club events from time to time. I have learned that Rangers love to see themselves doing cool stuff and I am happy to help them get pictures that matter to them. I am particularly proud of my work that covers sports that many people never go to watch. It gives those athletes an opportunity to have their skills shown to the whole world in a meaningful and professional way.

Redwood Boys Water Polo looks to bounce back after a close loss to Clovis East:
In this first story of mine, I explain on how Water Polo is looking forward to bounce back from the loss that they got from Clovis East High School. So Redwood was gonna be facing against El Diamante a week from losing to Clovis East and were trying to start a winning streak, which in order for their team to win was to condition harder and stick together as a team which is what the Water Polo team captain said to me and Savannah while we interviewed them. This indicates my writing skills for my story because I was able to get this story written in a good way in a shorter amount of time and still made sure that it looked professional for the gigantea. My partner and I got some good interviewing in with the Water Polo players so this story had a good interviewing quote into it.
This story matters because Water Polo at the time wasn't getting a big amount of attention like it should have been getting, so my partner and I made sure to write a good story about them and make sure to get the news out there. This informs the kids and people around Redwood, especially the Water Polo players because Water Polo is still a big summer sport for Redwood, so it is needed to get its attention out to the public. This helps the reading community by knowing more of the players and of how it is going with our summer sports at the time.
Photogallery: Men’s Varsity Soccer 11.18.2022
This is a photogallery I created for this year's first men's home soccer game. It was against Lindsay and it was a really intense game. The Lindsay team was really strong and aggressive. The final score was 3-1 and Redwood won. This show my strong sports photographer skills. I am pretty good at shooting a game and building a gallery to share.
This story matters because soccer doesn't draw the same kinds of crowds that other sports get. By highlighting the soccer teams with my camera, I am connecting our readers to our diverse, talented athletes and showing a part of RHS athletic life that not many people see.

Where have I been?
What I thought about Journalism before I started this class was I felt like it was gonna be a really tough class since I was a nervous type of person when it comes to trying to talk to people. I felt like journalism wasn't gonna be my favorite type of thing to do until I started learning more about it. Plus I thought that journalism was gonna be something where I had to do a lot of work which made me nervous due to my other classes.
Where am I now?
The skills I have gained from journalism is that I can write more professionally from having journalism as a class. Journalism taught me that I can socialize more without having to worry about anything much. Journalism helped me also learn that I am good at this type of subject and let me know that journalism is a skill that I can do.
Where am I going?
3 Goals that I have for next semester is that I wanna try to get straight A's on all of grades and push myself through my limit on school next semester. Another goal is that I wanna prove people wrong and show everyone what I can do when it comes to anything. One more goal is that for my section, I want to write big sports stories for our section, which I will need to be given more stories to get to that goal.
