Redwood Rangers held their annual homecoming on September 2nd in the Mineral King Bowl. Lexi Ellis ‘23, Redwood’s homecoming queen was announced and crowned during halftime.
Ellis is a 4 year ASB member, spirit coordinator and was junior class president last year. As an involved student she shares her thoughts about participating in homecoming week leading to the big announcement.
Lunchtime activities were held for the nominees throughout the week to bond and have fun together. “My favorite lunchtime activity was family feud because it was fun getting to ask questions and getting to guess what the answer was,” says Ellis.
Although homecoming is full of dress up days, the nominees were able to dress in their best attire on Friday for the announcement of the winners.
She says, “It was so fun to get dressed up. It is something I love to do. I love doing makeup and nails so getting dressed up is totally my thing.”
Before the winners were announced, the nominees were able to ride in the homecoming parade. Ellis was escorted by homecoming king Noe Viveros.
She says, “Being in the parade is super super cool . I’ve been in the parade the past two years but it has just been for ASB.”
Emotions and anticipation built up from the week created a mix of feelings for the nominees.“It was so cool hearing my name and everyone cheering for me,” says Ellis.
