This NFL season has been a wild ride, and now it all comes down to this. The Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will play Super Bowl LV (55) at Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, making this the first ever Home Super Bowl in NFL history.
The Game will be played on February 6th, 2021 at 3:30 pm PST. Even though the Bucs are the Home team, they will wear their white jerseys and pewter pants combination, and the Chiefs will wear their red jerseys and white pants combination.
According to Johnathan Jones of CBS Sports, this could be due to the fact that they have found more success with the away jerseys, rather than the standard home jerseys. They also suffered a home loss against the Chiefs with the home jerseys, so maybe they are worried that trying the same thing would lead to the same result.
So now here are some key players to look out for from both teams in this big game.
Buccaneers to watch out for:
Even if you have no idea what football is, chances are, you’ve at least heard of the greatest draft steal in NFL history. Tom Brady is in his 21st NFL season and has without a doubt turned the Bucs from a decent NFL franchise to a legitimate championship contender. He filled that gap that Jameis Winston, now a QB of the New Orleans Saints had created when he was playing for the Bucs. Winston was good, but would never be as consistent as Brady has been in this Bucs offense. Love him or hate him, he’s gonna be fun to watch.
Devin White is on this list because he has 9 sacks this season, which is more than 95% of the Buccaneers roster. The only other player that has more sacks than him was Jason Pierre-Paul, with 9.5. The only other player who comes close to him was Ndamukong Suh, with 6 respectively. He also boasts 90 solo tackles this season.
This may seem as a shock to many, but I’m putting Antonio Brown at 3, not because he’s the best receiver on the squad, but he is one of the most interesting players on this team in general. His story is a long and complicated one, but long story short, if he can manage to win this Super Bowl, he’d have a Comeback Player of the Year worthy season, if it weren’t for the greatness of Alex Smith.
Chiefs to watch out for:
Like I said in the Brady paragraph, if you know absolutely nothing about football, chances are, you know quite a bit about the next Tom Brady, also known as Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes recently signed a $450,000,000 deal with his team, the Chiefs. Which means he’s gonna have to have to make sure he’s worth every penny he’ll get. (As if he hasn’t shown that already!!) Here’s a sneak-peek at what we could see from him and the Chiefs on Super Bowl Sunday:
