During the 2020 holiday season students and teachers at Redwood High school have options of what they can do for Thanksgiving break. Many have explanations for how they plan to spend the week long Thanksgiving break because during times while we are in quarantine certain activities are off limits.

Aleena Sanchez, ‘22, says that, “making baked goods is always something fun to do when you are at home doing nothing”. Making cookies is a good idea for people who love sweets and want something to do to keep them from becoming bored.

“One thing I am doing over Thanksgiving break is getting together with family and spending time with them since I haven’t seen them in about 9 months due to the pandemic,” says Sanchez.

When asked what they think will be boring about the break Sanchez says “having nothing to do for that whole week or nothing to get ready for.”

Elisa Bardonnex, one of the Redwood Highschool Dance teachers, says “I am planning on getting my house ready for Christmas! I am doing a Winter Wonderland in my house so I have a ton of white decorations to put out.”

Bardonnex also says “I am super excited because it is a “stress-relief” for me. I love getting my Christmas tree and decorating it along with the rest of my house. I put on Christmas music and decorate all I can!”

Bardonnex also says that she will not be bored this break because “I can always try to find the positive and even the quiet times will be amazing!” Thanksgiving break will most likely be very different this year due to the fact that social distancing is being practiced to keep people safe during the pandemic among other things.

Roy Orosco, a history teacher at Redwood, says “I think I am going to go back to the 70’s and 80’s and play some board games which will be fun. Those that had me last year know that I like to play games and last year was the first year I got to play them in class!”

Orosco says, “the boring part will not be having all of our family together. It’s necessary to stay socially distinct and safe, but it sort of takes some of the fun out of the holiday.”

Remember to stay safe whether it takes social distancing or staying at home, that way everyone can enjoy the holiday no matter if they are in the company of their loved ones or not.
