Amilcar Alejandre Diaz, ‘26, the president of the Esports clubs, was asked about his thoughts on the club.
He said, “ I feel like we are a welcoming community, we’ll take anybody that wants to join the club, and we assure that everybody’s gonna have a very good time on our meeting days.”
When Diaz was asked about the team’s skill, he said “Competitive-wise, we didn’t lose a single game last year, so in today, we’ve gotten a lot better, like me and the other players.”
If people want to reach out and join the club, Diaz says, “club day is always like the best idea to reach out and join, but we’re usually in room 90, usually during Tuesdays and Thursdays.”
Diaz also says, “if you stop by, you’re automatically in already.”

The club representative, Jayro Vargas, ‘26, was asked about what the best they’ve gotten in the league was. He replied by saying “Our highest placement as of all of the US is 5th in the entire state of California.”
When Vargas is asked what games Esports shine in the most, he said “Right now we’re doing okay in smash bros.”
Vargas says that they have events like, “secret santas” where “everyone comes together, gets gifts for everyone, and it’s always a good time.”
Hernnan Sanchez-Ramos, ‘29, a potential member, was asked why he was interested in joining the Esports club.

Wyatt Ruby, ‘27, a member of the Esports club who joined his sophomore year, said that his favorite memories in the club are the potlucks they throw for the holidays and creating connections with people.
With it all coming to an end, Woodbury says, “We just like playing video games, so if you like playing video games at home with friends, well then, why not make some friends with some folks from your classes and your school,” says Woodbury.
Liz Garcia, ‘26, the secretary of the Esports club, said, “The Esports club is a bunch of cool people getting together, playing video games, and finding friends in the camaraderie.”
