This past weekend, our varsity girls soccer team played in a tournament down in Paso Robles HS. The name of the tournament was the Cats and Hounds Invintational. Our team did great going 4-0 overall at the tournament.
For their first game on Friday, December 13th, the Rangers played the Nipomo Titans, winning 2-0. Their second game on Friday was against the Righetti Warriors, which they won by a score of 6-0.
On Saturday, December 14th, Redwood opened with a win over the Arroyo Grande Eagles 1-0. Their final game of the tournament was against the Paso Robles Bearcats by a score of 4-2, completing their sweep of the tournament.
Midfielder #14 Adriana Soria-Rosales, ’27, is a defensive mid on the varsity girls team. Soria-Rosales says, ”[The tournament] was fun and it was fun to be with all of ther other girls. It was cool to stay over there too.”
Soria-Rosales shared some goals that she has for the rest of the season. “Some goals for the team are to win league and grow together as a team. As well as to overcome the slump that I’m in and to grow as a player on this team with these groups of girls and coaches,” says Soria-Rosales.
This past weekend, the team did good at staying consistent on the field, as well as growing together more as friends on a team in general.
Defender #23 Ruby Beal, ’26, Beal says,” It was really fun all of us girls getting to be together. And we won the tournament, which last year we didn’t do as good.”
Beal pointed out some of the highlights on how the team performed at the invitational. Beal says,” We were really good at connecting the ball. Overall we have a really good connection and so we were just able to connect that to the game.”
Another player that got to experience the invitational was Midfielder #10 Miranda Ortiz, ’28. Ortiz says, “[The tournament] was good and fun.”
Ortiz shared some goals that she has for the rest of the season both personally and as a team. “Personally, just finishing and taking 1v1s if I can, and then as team just building more chemistry,” says Ortiz.
