The Rangers began into their basketball season before winter break and continued on during break. While the rest of the school is checked out, Varsity boys basketball carried on their grind.
Team Captain #0 Cole Gilcrest, ’25, says, “It’s been good. We’ve been learning how to work together as a team, but I think we’ll get pretty good working together by the end of the season.”
Having lots of season time during the break, there leaves lots of room for practice and reflection. Gilcrest says “It helps us really connect and all this practice will help us get to Valley.” #14 Israel Briggs, ’26, says “Practice has been hard. We’re running like everyday because you know we’re always competitive. We always compete.”
The Rangers season over break seemed to be at a rocky start but looks to be coming together. Briggs says “[The] season is looking better now. We’ve been losing but now we’re on a 3 game winning streak right now so its looking good.”
Team Captain #12 Elijah Casas, ’25, says “It’s been up and down. We have had some success and some negatives along the way. Our bench players getting in have helped us a ton.”
The Rangers highlight their Fresno tournament. Casas says “We played some tough teams around the LA area. We managed to get a win but a celebratory win being how hard the competition was.”
The Rangers are back in school session and still continuing on their season. To carry on a season for success, Briggs says, “Playing my role, bringing the energy, and staying positive to make sure everyone is good.”
