As the school year comes to a close, everyone with the exception of seniors is approaching their final round of tests and many kids are stressed.

Final exams can be very stressful and most people take them rather seriously. As a freshman Addi Beal will be taking her second round of high school finals next week. Beal says, “[I am] a little nervous but my grades are pretty much set, so I don’t need to rely on my final grade.”

Sophomore Fernanda Moore says, “[The] hardest part of my finals this year was my Spanish final.” According to her, the Spanish final has three parts. “The speaking part was the hardest because a lot of it was memorization.”

From a teacher’s perspective finals can also be very stressful. Mrs. Natalie Duerre is the American Sign Language teacher at Redwood High School. She is very well loved as a teacher by many students and staff. In order to prepare her students for the final, she dedicates a week to review.

Duerre says, “Each lesson is reviewed and we do activities that are fun, but also refresh the memory of previous lessons.” Even as a teacher, Duerre says, “Finals can be stressful because I do want the best for my kids and it can be difficult to motivate them to study.”

Regardless of the stress, finals week can be relieving because it ends off the school year.
