It is that time of the year again when seniors are applying for universities, and after a long four years of going through COVID-19 and a number of other obstacles, the pressure is on.
Senior Eric Chavez has made his mark on Redwood. He was involved with tennis, was the AVID Vice President, Future Healthcare Professionals club President, and a part of a number of other clubs.
Chavez’s proudest accomplishment is his founding of the Future Healthcare Professionals club.
He says, “My mission was to cultivate a community of students who are determined to make an impact in the healthcare mission in the future, and I am so excited to be a part of their journey.”
After committing to his hard work and pursuing what he believes could help future Rangers, his hard work paid off as he was accepted into three UC universities, being UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Santa Cruz.
Chavez has decided to commit to UC Berkeley for his next four years of schooling.
When asked what he aspires to be, he says that he plans to pursue a degree in Biological Sciences at a four-year university and attend Medical School afterwards.
He says “I aspire to be a doctor, but not just to wear the white coat to make an impact in the mission of healthcare.”
Chavez says, “I am sad to leave Redwood with all the memories so quick.”
Senior Klaira Arreguin explains how when returning to the well-earned normality after the global pandemic, this senior class will definitely be remembered.
Arreguin has been accepted into UC Irvine and UC Berkeley and aspires to take on a psychology major to become a professor at a four-year university.
Arreguin says that the feeling is “a little bittersweet. [She’s] going to miss the people [she] got to see every day and the teachers who have been [her] greatest supporters throughout [her] four years of high school, but [she] think[s] [she’s] ready to move on.”
“I’ll miss the community that Redwood allowed me to be a part of, but I think I am ready to graduate and experience life outside of Redwood,” Arreguin says.
Senior Natalia Rodriguez has been accepted into UC Santa Barbra, UC San Diego, UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, University of the Pacific, Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo), Sacramento, Fresno State, and has been waitlisted for UC Irvine and UCLA.
Rodriguez is looking to be a dentist and possibly specialize in Orthodontics.
Rodriguez feels scared about what the future brings since there isn’t a set plan yet. She says, “I’m very excited to start this next chapter in my life that will bring many new lessons and experiences.”
“I’m going to miss Redwood, especially all the memories and friends I’ve made,” she adds.
