Yes, you read that title right, let me take you back to some music that must be played more once again, OLDIES! Often times, when you walk around campus or even go to a party with friends, music such as rap and/or pop, is playing! It’s the cool thing to blast rap music in your car on the way to school, but one genre of music that has been forgotten by our generation is Oldies.

Oldies are not played as much anymore, sadly not all kids grew up listening to artists like “The Beatles” and “Frank Sinatra!” But I believe we should all give these artists a chance. Yes, It may seem out of your comfort zone to play new music that is different from your vibe, but Oldies can benefit you in many ways. For example, many Oldies are upbeat and will instantly put you in a happy and good mood!

The vibe of Oldies is completely different from the type of music we generally listen to every day. The #1 played song on the radio for the first few months of 2020 was “Someone You Loved,” by Lewis Capaldi. Yes, we all can agree that we most likely know EVERY.SINGLE.WORD. to this amazing song, but have you ever realized how sad this song could make you feel? If you are having a terrible day and this song comes on it makes you feel very emotional. We all need a good cry sometimes but I don’t believe we should be constantly surrounded by bad energy. This is why I believe we should give Oldies one chance! This upbeat music makes you feel bubbly and happy. We all can use a little bit more of this positive energy in our lives.

There are many different types of genres of Oldies you could listen too, some even being R&B! This variety gives you plenty of great options to choose from. You could literally never get tired of old music! They have a song for every single mood you are in. So why not? Why not give Oldies a try! I challenge everyone to step out of their comfort zone and listen to one song from the Oldies! Let’s all have some fun and do something new and interesting. Who knows, maybe on your search of finding a good Oldies Jam, you will click on your next favorite song.
