The fashion at Redwood High School in 2025 is expressed by students and teachers alike, which shows that self expression comes from all walks of life through fashion.

Fashion trends go in and out of style in the blink of an eye, it often goes so fast that the average person isn’t able to get their mind wrapped around what is or not stylish in the current year.

Not every person follows the current fashion trends of course, but every person at Redwood has their own personal sense of style.

Sylvia Nowakowski 27′, she said “I would describe modern day fashion as kind of basic. Like I feel like a lot of people are scared to, like, express themselves and I feel like a lot of people get judged for whenever they [do] express themselves.”

When people stray away from fashion that is considered “normal” they get judged for doing so.

But yet, individualistic styles that are different from the norm is a way to show who they are authentically.

Jon Woodbury, a AP biology and biology teacher at Redwood, said that he notices a certain type of fashion he sees with his students that he calls Gen Z fashion. He describes Gen Z fashion as baggy jeans, loose fitting clothing, as well as outer shirts such as flannels.

Liam Bradford 26′, he said “the first impression that, you know, people get of us, you know, our hair, our face, and what we’re wearing.”

This applies to all aspects in life, the way people present themselves to the world, is how the world will perceive them.

Abigail Hart 28′, said “A lot of people, I feel like, teenagers our age lean more towards boring.”

The trends is 2025 tend to be more boring, especially compared to trends in previous decades.

Nowakowski 27′, she says that she wishes the poofy hair and boots of the 80’s would make a comeback in fashion in 2025.

Hair in modern day just isn’t as big and bold as it was in the 80’s, but that isn’t to say that modern style doesn’t have its own charms.

Sophia Guzman 26′ said that fashion in modern day could be boring or unique, it all depends on how you look at it, when mixing and matching as well as finding suitable accessories to it, boring could be made into unique.

The topic of trends is objective, some would describe modern fashion as basic and others view it as unique.

History repeats itself, so it isn’t that unlikely that fashion trends from earlier decades will come full circle and become popular again in 2025 or 2026 possibly.

Bradford 26′ said, “I think we need, like, I think Amy Winehouse was on to something. I think we need to bring the beehive back.”
