School is out and the Holidays are around the corner. Many students get bored during the holidays and ask themselves, “What is something fun during this time of year?”
In Visalia, there are many things to get us in the holiday spirit like ice skating in Downtown to skiing down the mountains with your friends and family. Here are some popular things to do in and around Visalia if you are bored during the Holidays.
Reimers Candies and Gifts
Last year many of our students went to Reimers Candies and Gifts located at 3 rivers. Before Reimers was made a Visalia candy maker started to sell chocolates in a little red gingerbread house and since then people from all over the world come to this candy store to get a sweet treat.
The entire house contains 3 stores. One is a Candy Shop, an Ice Cream Shop, and The River Shop. The Candy Shop features so many types of candies from licorice to their famous homemade peanut brittle. The Ice Cream Shop features 2 dozens types of flavors made by grown wild fruit and fresh cream. When you enter the shop, you can smell the aroma of homemade waffle cones. Lastly in the River Shop is a small little gift store where you can get small little gifts like ornaments.
Behind the store, you can enjoy the view of the Kaweah River and if you love to take pictures, this is a great spot to take pictures. If you guys are going to Sequoia National Park or are going to eat at 3 rivers, this is a great stop to make to grab a quick treat.
Ice Skating Downtown
If you love ice skating, Downtown Visalia always opens the ice skating rink for everyone. The ice skating rink is located at Garden Street Plaza. It is open every weekend until December 22 and it is open daily until January 12. It is a great place to go with all your friends and family during the holidays. If you are wanting to do other things in Downtown before going ice skating, many restaurants are putting musicals and theater production to bring in the holiday spirit. You can enjoy a nice theater production and then enjoy ice skating with friends and family.
Skiing in the Mountains
If you love skiing, then this is the perfect time of year to go to the mountains and ski. Usually at the mountains, there is fresh snow at this time so skiing on the mountains is much smoother.
If you are looking for a trail that has already been made for you, than China Peak would be you destination. China Peak is a place where people go skiing on the highest mountains and learn how to ski as well. If you don’t know how to ski, they are trainers at China Peak that will teach you how to ski.
If you just don’t want to ski, you can go to any Snow Park close to you and play over there. Either way it will keep you in company and it is really fun. If you love snow or skiing, going to the mountains with your family members or friends will help you get out of the house during the break.
The Holidays can get boring, but by doing fun activities during the holidays, it may help enjoy your holiday break before school starts.
