Investing into a business can be a little tricky and stressful. Jesse Palomino is a senior at Redwood High School, who has a hobby of cleaning and reselling sneakers. Jesse has sold more than 200 pairs of sneakers since the beginning of his business until now.

Jesse started cleaning shoes in 8th grade. Palomino really liked the feeling of being appreciated for his work. He enjoyed seeing how happy people would get after receiving their clean sneakers.

Palomino said, “Being that guy who cleans everybody’s shoes, and how I see their smile on their face when they see their shoes looking nice and clean is what started it.”

He only charges people depending on how they feel about how their shoe came out after detailing. “Sometimes I don’t even charge people depending on how the shoe came out, if they don’t look pretty brand new or like they haven’t been worked on, I would not charge them. My policy is if they don’t look good or close to new I wouldn’t charge them.”

He used his time and money to invest in his own business, “5StarSolez”. He started his business by creating an instagram account and posting his shoes for others to see and purchase.

Palomino has almost 2,400 followers on instagram. “Having this business has been worth it, I have been able to buy myself a car, help pay bills and be able to support myself.”

Palomino has always thought about his clients first. He is more worried about if his clients are happy with what they paid for, rather than what he makes at the end.
