Redwood Seniors share about the Senior Sunrise on August 10 and their high school experiences.

Bright and early Thursday, August 10, Rangers returned to school. For some, it was their final first day at Redwood. was the first day of school for many students.

Early that morning, the annual tradition of Senior Sunrise was held in the Mineral King Bowl. The class of ‘24 got to hang out with friends, eat some delicious food, and watch as the sun went up to officially start the new school year.

Savannah Vargas ‘24 says, “Seeing everyone, and realizing that, oh my gosh, we’re the Seniors now, we get to do Senior Sunrise, and just taking pictures with everyone and laughing, just starting the year off strong.”

Jesse Zetino ‘24 says, “Crazy, it went by really fast, but I’m excited.”

Starting new beginnings can be exciting, the excitement running through your veins is one of the best feelings out there. But leaving is one of the hardest things to do. There’s always some sort of bittersweet feeling running through the air.

Magnus Burgess ‘24 says, “It feels really good, I bet that every Senior says this, but it’s a bittersweet moment, and it really is that. But, I’m really excited to end of the year with all of my friends.”

“It’s a lot of mixed emotions, you feel happy, you feel excited because it’s something you saw as a kid like, oh I want to get there. But now that we’re here, it feels very surreal, like it’s not true, you’re still very young and some stuff reminds you like, hey, I’m a Senior this year I’m graduating this year, the rally, it’s my last rally,” says Antonella Cardenas ‘24.

Throughout the past four years, Redwood Seniors have had some really memorable moments, and some still in counting. Sports, Cheer, Dance Force, Clubs—, everything that Redwood has to offer—, have many special memories.

Ethan Bither ‘24 says, “Definitely soccer, I’m all about sports, and soccer has been everything to me.”

“I feel like Dance Force is definitely a memory for me, because we’ve become like a big family, and I just love all the girls,” says Savannah Vargas ‘24.

Antonella Cardenas ‘24 says, “All my classes, all my teachers have been great, I’ve loved all the new people I’ve met, my best friend, everything. Redwood has felt like family, I moved from Arizona my Sophomore year, and when I got here, it was really different. The people were welcoming, everybody wanted you to grow, they want you to be better, and every day when I come, I have a great time learning and learning about the people.”

The Seniors here at Redwood are all excited to start their year off strong. The future is right in front of them, and it holds so much promise and possibility for the Rangers.
