Award Show Season is reaching its peak in the entertainment world. Just recently, on November 11th, the People’s Choice Awards was broadcasted on E! at 6:00 PM. This awards ceremony has been celebrating the achievements of a variety of artists, actors, and celebrities since it’s first show in 1975.
The PCA’s is widely known because of the awards that are based purely on online votes from fans and the general public, which is apparent from it’s title. This means that the winners of the night took home their trophies with support from the majority. Many of the stars that won were fan favorites and well-known for their talents and popularity.
Focusing on the big winners of the show, Nicki Minaj stole a lot of the spotlight of the show. Minaj gave a very bold performance of tracks “Hard White (Intro/Reprise)”, “Good Form” & “Dip” with rapper Tyga. She also won two awards for herself, which were Female Artist of 2018 and Album of 2018 with her album “Queen”.
Other performers include Rita Ora that performed “Let You Love Me” and John Legend who sang “Pride (In the Name of Love)”.
Another big winner of the music category was, BTS, a K-pop boy group that has been gaining success and fame at a fast rate around the world. Their fans voted vigorously and succeeded because the group took home four awards. These awards include “Group of 2018”, “Song of 2018” and “Music Video of 2018” with their song “IDOL”, and “Social Celebrity of 2018”. The group unfortunately could not attend because of their overseas schedules, but they did not forget to thank their fans and express their overall gratitude in a video.
The ceremony also gave recognition to movies and shows. The biggest winner in the film category was Avengers: Infinity War that received “Movie of 2018”, “Action Movie of 2018”, and actress Scarlett Johansson won “Female Movie Star of 2018” because of her role in the film. Chadwick Boseman and Danai Gurira also won “Male Movie Star” and “Action Movie Star” of 2018 with their roles Black Panther. In the TV category, the show Shadowhunters was a big winner of the night with their “Show of 2018” and “Binge Worthy Show of 2018” awards.
Overall, The People’s Choice Awards was a highlight of last weekend in the entertainment world. The awards show allowed fans to vote for their favorites and the artists and entertainers to fairly win awards. If you missed it, don’t worry.
