The annual Mr. Ranger pageant, a hallmark event in the school calendar, has three judges this year: Mr. Rojas, Mrs. Feehan, and Mrs. Bardonnex. The judges are responsible for crowning the next Mr. and Mrs. Ranger. They are looking for nominees who are immersed in a whirlwind of engagements, and the contestants face a formidable challenge in their quest for the coveted title.
As the week progresses toward its climax on Friday, the burning question on everyone’s mind is: who exactly are the judges of Mr. and Mrs.Ranger’s fate? The annual Mr. Ranger pageant, a hallmark event in the school calendar, hinges on the contestants’ performances and the discerning judgment of its esteemed panel.
This year, the responsibility of crowning the next Mr. and Mrs. Ranger falls upon the capable shoulders of Mr. Rojas, Mrs. Feehan, and Mrs. Bardonnex.
With their collective expertise and honest evaluation, the contestants face a formidable challenge in their quest for the coveted title.
Mr. Rojas, a biology teacher explains how he was selected as a Mr. Ranger judge and why he chose to accept the role.
Mr. Rojas says, “Why, because it’s cool, I always wondered how they judge and how they like to win and how it’s because ASB asked me.”
Mrs. Feehan also adds, “ I was approached by a student who was also an ASB, she came and asked if I wanted to judge and I liked doing it so I agreed”
As the curtains rise on the high-stakes arena of judging, the spotlight extends far beyond the classroom. Judges find themselves looking for nominees who are immersed in a whirlwind of engagements, navigating a labyrinth of formalities and social conventions that punctuate their week.
From dressing the best to engaging at lunch, these involvements form the fabric of their daily existence, adding layers of complexity to an already demanding role.
Throughout the week, the judges observe and analyze various elements to make their final decision.
These factors may include a contestant’s talent, stage presence, creativity, originality, and overall performance.
Contestants need to give their best effort and showcase their unique abilities to impress the judges and stand out in the competition.
Mrs. Feehan, an experienced English 2 and Honor teacher, provides valuable insights into what the judges are looking for in the contestants. Her expertise and a keen eye for detail helped the participants understand the criteria that are essential for winning the competition.
She says, “We’re looking for creativity and how much effort involved they put into their costume for the dress-up days and how much effort, spirit, and enthusiasm they’re putting into the lunchtime activity. Also, how are they putting themselves out there and participating?
Mrs. Bardonex, a professional dance teacher, has shared her insights regarding what judges look for in the Mr. Ranger pageant.
She says, “As a judge, I’m looking for a school spirit who’s enthusiastic who’s into it who wants to be there to have a good time and just make sure that the week is fun for them.”
