All relationships start somewhere. 3 couples and 1 friendship share where it all began.

Couples:
Marileigh Coon and Adam Judson

Adam Judson, ‘25, and Marileigh Coon, ‘25, have been together for almost 11 months now, April 1st being their anniversary date. Judson describes how they first met, “At the beginning of summer our freshman year we went to the school farm for a cleanup day before we got our lambs.” Judson says his favorite thing about Coon is that “She likes to be outside and do new things.” After being together for so long Judson says someone should “Just enjoy it, every day is a new day” for a lasting relationship.
Ayla Morgan and Cody Burton

Together for almost 11 months since April 1’st 2024, Cody Burton, ‘25, Ayla Morgan’s, ‘25, boyfriend, describes their first encounter, “We just met through friends and then we became friends for a couple years and then I just asked her and we started going out.” Two months later they had become a couple.
Burton says, “Her easy-going personality and how she’s always open to try stuff,” is his favorite thing about Morgan.
When committing to a long-lasting relationship Burton says to “ always just talk it out, there’s no need to fight over something because at the end of the day, you can figure it out.”
Maylian Rios and Cort Johnson

“We met through friends at a Halloween party and we were in the same English class,” says Maylian Rios, ‘27 when describing how she met her boyfriend Cort Johnson, ’27. Since then they’ve been together for six months, their anniversary being August 8th.
Johnson describes how they first met similarly, saying that his favorite thing about her since then is, “everything.”
When making sure relationships last, Johnson says, “communication” is an important factor.
Friendships:
Ava Reynolds and Justin Valdez

Ava Reynolds, ‘27, and Justin Valdez, ‘27, have been friends for about a year, their freshman year being when they first met. Reynolds describes their first encounter “I think he just started sitting with my friend at lunch at our table and my best friend knew him, and she kind of introduced me to him, but then I just randomly started talking to him.”
Communication, Reynolds says, is also a major factor when creating lasting friendships, “Because if it doesn’t get communicated I feel like it could never just get resolved.”
Valdez recounts his first meeting similarly to Reynolds.
As friends for a year, Valdez says his favorite thing about Reynolds is that “Ava is such a great person to rely on if I need anything and I can text her and call her and she’ll always be there. Especially in math because math is really confusing.”
