Ultimate Frisbee is a game where two teams of seven players compete on a narrow field. They score by catching the frisbee in the other team’s end zone.

When asked what the club needs to improve on, Karli Rasmussen, ‘25, who is the president of the Ulitmate Frisbee club, said, “Teamwork especially. That’s the most important when you’re playing frisbee, and just having fun.”
“Anyone can come that wants to come, and we just have fun,” said Rasmussen.
Rasmussen had this fun idea about doing a teacher tournament, where teachers team up, play against each other, and just have a good time. They could even make t-shirts and turn it into a fun little event!

Von Borowicz, ‘27, a member of the Ultimate Frisbee club, when asked about how he’s liking the club so far Borowicz said, “It’s fun. I like it a lot, because we got something to do on Saturdays when you don’t have anything. It’s good, it makes me sore, so I guess it’s good exercise too.”
When asked what his strategies are for the game Borowicz said, “Probably just to know your teammates names, because at first I didn’t really know their names.”
Borowicz also mentioned that going back to defense would be a good idea, to help improve how they play.

Advisor Mr. Arruda

Ultimate Frisbee Club’s advisor is chemistry teacher Mr. Austin Arruda. When asked what the club is currently trying to improve on, Mr. Arruda said, “Probably just adding more people, and just really showing Redwood that there’s a club for it, and an opportunity for them to learn how to play Ulitmate Frisbee.”
When asked how do you think being active outside of school can benefit a student inside of school, Mr. Arruda said, ”As much as you learn in school you are exercising the brain, it’s important to use all the other muscles you have in your body, to help destress anything else that may be going on. It helps in every area of your life.”
Newbies in the Ultimate Frisbee group can count on the other players to help them learn the game. Participating in Ultimate Frisbee can significantly improve both mental and physical health.
Mr. Arruda said, “Join Ultimate Frisbee Club!”
