Redwood High School’s varsity and JV football teams have started up their 2022 season, many football players have new perspectives and goals on how they’re feeling about this year’s season.
Derek Puckett ‘23, varsity player says, “We have been working very hard in the weightroom as well as on the field.”
Puckett feels that new additions to the varsity team would be a good thing for the team.
He says, “We have a lot of new people on the varsity side of the ball and I think these fresh faces are what we need this year to be successful.”
The team has been working hard to better the team and themselves over and out of the season.
Varsity Football coach, Kevin Sharton says, “I feel really good about the 2022 football season.”
“This year we just need to work on taking every opponent seriously. Last year we walked into our cowhide game thinking we had already won,” Puckett says.
Winning football games comes with practice and training for the next games in the season.
“We have prepared for the season by putting in spring and summer workouts,” Sharton says.
Ranger football has been working together and gathering the same vision to be successful.
“I am excited about this year’s team because the players have good chemistry and play together for the same common goal,” Sharton says.
Cash Rico ‘25, JV player says, “I feel like we have a good chance to win and that we will be playing good.”
Rangers have confidence that this year they will take the win with future games.
“It all starts with practice, we have to practice together and work on the plays that we are going to be doing in the game,” Rico says.
