Every Redwood student is special in their own way, and senior Chloe Schultz is undoubtedly among the unique and gifted. Schultz has been involved in so many things over the years to make a difference. From Cross Country, to Flag Running Club, and even to her new organization she wants to kick start. Being a senior in high school does bring a lot of pressure towards most, from starting your future to possibly seeing some of your longest friends for the last time. However, Schultz is taking her destiny into her own hands.
Schultz, ’20, has always loved running. She started cross country in the 4th grade and has stuck with that passion for many years. Not only was running fun for her, she said ‘running helped in my everyday life.’ Although running is a major piece of her life, she has faced difficulties with running as well.
In her junior year, she didn’t want to run anymore. She ‘dreaded going to practice, however she stuck with running through everything. Schultz explained how her teammates ‘motivate’ her and they all have a bond together. Along with her teammates, her parents have always been her support system and have helped her with everything.
Along with her school and sports obligations, Schultz has been working on a big project to help others. ‘Unified Sports’ is a program for special ed students who play sports. Schultz believed that everyone should get a chance to participate in sports even if they do not posses the same abilities as other student athletes. Schultz says “We want to give them an equal opportunity.”
After coming over to Redwood from Clovis East, she appreciates what Redwood has to offer. She says that “The environment [at Redwood] is better and everyone is more welcoming.”
Schultz has a big personality and she works hard. In her future, she is capable of doing whatever her heart desires. After talking to Schultz former teacher, Mrs. Moore, she says “Her passion is people. She is a people person and is eager to change the lives of others.” With this type of character, Chloe is bound to go far.
Schultz is the type of person that people love to be around, “Chloe is extraordinarily kind, thoughtful, and charismatic,” said Moore. She makes everyone feel welcomed and comfortable when they are around her.
