Haley Tierce, Cabreya Barrow-Bryant, and Zoey Daniel explain how they feel about their season so far.

Haley Tierce, ’27, says it all started at a basketball camp and since then, has been playing since the third grade and immediately fell in love with the game.
Tierce says that her goals for this season are, “To get good playing time, to be a motivator when I’m off the court and on the court, never to lose my temper at the other players, and to be valuable on the court and be a point scorer.”
She says “At practices, we are getting all of our plays and defenses set up and just learning all the basics right now.”
Something Tierce says she needs to work on is “On my free throws, make them more consistent.”
While playing with older kids, Tierce says “At first it was nerve-racking because I thought I was really going to stick out as this person who was not as good, but everyone is really nice and encouraging and the skill levels aren’t anything crazy.”
She says “Everyone can keep up.”
Cabreya Barrow, ’27, has many goals for her first season here at Redwood. She says “My goal is to make it and do my best for the team.”
Barrow says she feels like she could spend more of her free time practicing on “my left hand for lay-ups and dribbling.”
Barrow says she plays basketball because “ever since 2015, it was like I had no choice really. It was all of a sudden and my mom made me play so I had to get used to it.”
Being a freshman on JV (Junior Varsity) girl’s basketball means playing against older girls. Barrow says “It’s very stressful because not a lot of the girls made it. Some of them are on the freshmen team and I’m happy I made JV. Playing against older girls is kinda scary because they are big and they’re actually pretty good.”
Zoey Daniel, ’27, is a freshman on JV girls basketball. Her goals this season are to “have a positive mindset and to be a really good teammate and to have fun.”
Daniel says practices are “going really well and I think we’re getting close already and I can feel a good season coming up.”
Something Daniel says she needs to work on this season to be the best she can possibly be is “dribbling with my right hand because I am a lefty.”
Daniel says she was 8 years old when she found her passion by saying “I think me being competitive and showing that I’m coachable and really wanting to be on a team.”
