Adrian Lopez-Guzman and Advisor Pete Siquieros talk behind the scenes on Redwood High School’s new super-fan shirts for the ’26-27 School year. While the shirts may appear to be a simple tradition, the designs represent much more than just a free shirt.

According to Redwood’s ASB, the Super-fan Shirt is designed by the ASB president each year. The shirts follow a consistent color scheme, with a navy blue shirt.

The ASB president is responsible for creating the design and developing the slogan for the school year. This year’s slogan is “Deep in Our Roots.”

The shirts also carry important symbols of Redwood’s identity. The school name, “Redwood High School,” and the name “Redwood Rangers” are all considered important parts of the tradition. Mr Ranger, Redwood’s mascot, is also an important part of the current design tradition.

The Superfan shirt represents more than school spirit or a yearly design. They connect students and staff to Redwood’s history, traditions, and identity. By continuing those traditions while incorporating new designs and ideas each year, the shirt gives the entire school community something to share and wear with pride.

“It’s cool to know that every student and staff member received one and we could be unified,” says Pete Siquieros, ASB Advisor.

ASB president Adrian Guzman- Lopez, ’27 said, “We’re continually growing our roots within our community, and making it stronger, and having that big, strong foundation for this, for Redwood, hence the redwood tree.”

Through its Redwood tree design, the shirt symbolizes the school’s history, traditions, and strong connection to the community.

For this year’s ASB president, inspiration comes largely from previous Redwood student leaders. Seeing the work of former ASB presidents and knowing that his own parents also attended Redwood encouraged him to create the design that honors the school’s past while continuing to shape its future.

As ASB president, contributing to the Superfan shirt tradition is another way to serve the Redwood community. The president hopes to leave a positive mark on the school while making it an enjoyable year for students across all grade levels.

“The Redwood trees serve as a metaphor for the school’s strong foundation while also representing how students continue to build on the traditions established by those who came before them.”ASB president says.

Seeing students wear the design has also made the experience meaningful. The president said it is an honor to see students representing the shirt and its message, especially when students wear the shirt outside of school.

Ultimately, the superfan shirt represents the continued growth of Redwood’s community. Its roots connect students to the school’s past, while its new traditions help shape its future. For the ASB president, the shirt is a reminder that Redwood’s culture is something students build together- one tradition at a time.
