At the beginning of the second semester, students started smelling something off putting on campus. There wasn’t plumbing issues or gunk in the river, but instead it was ‘stink bombs’ placed by students.
When set off these objects emit a sulfur like smell, often reported as smelling like a rancid egg.
These ‘bombs’ have been found constantly on the stairs between main and vista.
Brandon Carrasco, ‘22, says,”I think it’s very immature and childish, administration should be on the lookout for these poor actions.”
He says that students on campus do this, “To get a little laugh and attention,” and that “it’s really disruptive and all around not funny.”
Carrasco thinks that those caught with these should be suspended for their immature behavior.
Nathan Escobar ‘22 witnessed a ‘fart bomb’ go off. He says he feels,”very annoyed and those kids need to grow up because their behavior isn’t Ranger behavior.”
Escobar says students do this for attention and to get a reaction out of people.
Marty Silvas, a supervisor on campus says, “I wish it would stop… it’s a danger to students.”
Around Campus there have been many fat bombs and firecrackers going off Silvas says, “If a firework injuries someone it’s very bad, and huge consequences will come from it.”
Silvas says, “the reason for students doing this is for attention, thinking it’s funny when it’s not.”
Matt Shin, principal of Redwood High School says, “I’m not a fan of these actions.” He continues with, “We have punishments and rules for those who get caught doing this.”
He says that such actions are poor and those who are doing it need to mature and understand that Redwood High School is not the place to be doing these things.
