Redwood Women’s wrestling is entering their post season right now, and they are as competitive as ever. They have had a pretty good start to their season so far, and want to keep the wins coming.

Audrey Segura, ’25, says, “Being a part of the team is an awesome experience. Over the course of the season, we’ve all bonded so much.” Segura goes on to say, “In wrestling you’re going against people who are bigger than you [and] stronger than you, so being a freshman, and placing is surreal.”

Segura is one of the youngest on the team, and has already placed first in her season! She concludes by saying, “Since we are in post season, we’re playing Clovis this Friday, which is one of our biggest competition. We just have to bring it.”

Jasimen Ortega, ’24, says, “It feels really good to be a part of the team. I’m super excited to wrestle this year.” Ortega is planning on going far, based on what she says, “My biggest competition is going to be state, I definitely see myself there.”

Ortega loves the bond that the team has created over the season. “Our teams bond continues to grow every time we see each other. At the tournaments, we just continue to grow stronger.”

Kylie Langford, ’22, says, “The girls wrestling team is not big, but we are a small group of hardworking girls. Our team consists of six girls who come to practice every day.” Langford believes that the team will really strive for excellence this season. She goes on to say, “I am honored to be a part of the women’s wrestling team and I am just as honored to be around girls who choose to wrestle everyday.”
