A few weeks ago, Redwood students participated in the Slick Rock Film Festival. There were multiple rocks won and some great videos were created. Some of the winners that were involved are Weston Watson, ’19, and Briseda Bautista, ’19.
Weston Watson was in charge of the sports highlights video, which won. Though it was amazing to see at Slickrock, he says his proudest moment was not even at Slickrock itself, “it was when the video was shown at the Cowhide Hype rally, you could feel the whole school get excited.” And this is true, the video put goosebumps on anyone who watched it. Watson also states that he wanted, “to make it really cinematic and engaging… the Marvel intro really helped to add that.”
As a senior this will be Weston’s last year competing, but he loves the event. He thinks it is a great way for students to express their talents for a large scale audience and for, “[students] to get recognized for the time and effort they put into their craft.” And this is shown as Bautista says that, “my group and I are really interested in video itself and creating content.”
Bautista and her team were actually editing up until the last hour the deadline arose. They worked extremely hard on their video and they are proud because it took a lot of time. She says that, “it takes a lot of time and hard work, and not just in class time, I mean outside of school. All the girls put in a ton of effort to make the end result happen.”
