ID cards overflowing in the office

Recently a new policy has been put in place here at Redwood. Students who arrive at school late get their ID cards taken away. We went out and interviewed some freshmen and got their opinion on this subject.

Michael McLennan ’22 said “I don’t think there’s a point in freshman’s  getting their IDs taken away. People are just meant  to have their IDs with them at all times so when freshmen get them taken away for just showing up late, it seems pointless to me. There’s no perks of having your ID or not having your ID as a freshman. I think if the school policy is to always have your ID, then freshman should just keep it.”

Jocelyn Palomino’s ’22 opinion on the subject is, “There’s no point in having the privilege of going off campus, if they are going to be taken away.” This goes for all grades accept freshman, since we can’t go off campus anyways. If ID cards are going to be taken away just because we show up a couple minutes late, then why should students be able to go off campus in the first place?

Overall, the policy put in place seems to not effect freshman students in particular too much, yet many freshman feel its not necessary for their ID cards to be taken away simply because they came late to school.
