Starting the next school year, Redwood High School is required to start school at 8:30am. Many students will benefit from this change, as it would allow students to be more rested and prepared for school.
However, this year’s seniors will be missing out on this change.
Some seniors are happy for their underclassmen peers who will be receiving the late start benefit next year.
“Yeah, sure, I feel like maybe students will be more rested and be ready to go, I guess,” says Joel Morones, ‘22.
Similarly, Lucas Washam, ‘22 says, “An 8:30 start time will allow students to sleep in a little bit and feel a little extra refreshed for the day. I’m happy for all the students next year that will get that luxury.”
On the other hand, some seniors are also feeling a little jealous of how they did not get this benefit.
Seneca Sowers, ‘22 says how she is, “kind of sad about it because I’m like, ‘ah, that’d be so nice if I could’ve been able to have that.’”
Sowers adds, “It’ll be good for everybody else and that, even though I’m not going to be able to experience it, it’s still ok ‘cause I get to go to college next year and have my own schedule.”
Morones adds, “I would’ve definitely been less tired. I think I would’ve gotten some more sleep.”
