The California Scholarship Federation [CSF] embarks on second meeting of the school year in the library to introduce T-shirt design and opportunities for members.
On Tuesday September 20th, CSF held their second meeting in the Annie R. Mitchell Library, which is the foreseeable location for upcoming meetings.
This brief meeting exclusively pertained to official members. If a student is unsure of their membership status, the individual may clarify with the advisor, Mrs. Nicole Vieira.
The officer team present includes: President Kylie Schieferle, ’23, Vice President Leena Aziz, ’23, Secretary Daniela Palma, ’23, Treasurer Eliza Howard, ’23, and Jacquelyn Alexander, ’24.
The meeting covered T-shirt sales, lifetime membership status, upcoming community service, and mentioned their next semester application workshop.
The CSF T-shirts are being sold online for $12. The officer team and advisor stress to members to select local pickup in order to receive the purchased shirt in room 208 on October 7th.
Senior members who have achieved a lifetime membership will be notified if they acquired the status of a lifetime member within the next upcoming weeks. Seniors must qualify one semester of their senior year to uphold their active role in the club.
If membership fee is unpaid, members will need to pay their $5 fee to Vieira in room 208. Students who have not paid will receive an email next week in correspondence to their standing payment.
Next semester, an application workshop is currently underway to ease the application process for first-time members and those who need assistance in navigating online submissions.
A possible upcoming community service will occur on October 1st at Global Learning Charter School [GLC]. Members are responsible to account for their hours and participation in service events. The CSF Minga class and Redwood school website have a volunteer log linked to assist in maintaining hours.
Schieferle says she is looking forward to the community service event, which will focus on “helping [Global Learning Charter] elementary school”.
“We are going to start off with our officer service events that are starting to be organized very soon,” adds Schieferle in correspondence to the each officer planning their own event for the club.
Last month, CSF participated in the organization Salt + Light, which accounted for their service event of the school year. The officer team and present members assisted with fundraising to raise money for supplies to build shelters for people that are financially conflicted.
For the remainder of the first semester, she says that the library will be where meetings are held because “it hosts everyone that [CSF] need[s] to and it’s very efficient for [the club] to host there.”
To maintain an active member status, sophomores, juniors, and seniors are encouraged to attend monthly meetings and community service opportunities.
For updates regarding meetings and events, the club is active on Instagram (@rhscsf) Remind (@rhscsf2223), and Minga. If there are any questions regarding status or further information about CSF, contact Vieira or the officer team.
