Meet the candidates for Redwood High School’s 2023-2024 Freshman Class President.
By Ayla Ozturk and Megan Yang
On Monday, August 28, 2023, Redwood High School began its Freshman Class elections.
The elected candidates will represent their class in Redwood’s Associated Student Body [ASB].
The following students are running for Freshman Class Vice President.
Zarena Bernardino, ’27, was unavailable for comment.
Sophia Garcia
Sophia Garcia, ’27, is a member of ASB and participates in Rally Club. She plans to join Redwood Wrestling and potentially Redwood Track.
Garcia has been in ASB since she was in sixth grade.
She wants her classmates to know she is a flexible and supportive person.
“Everybody’s my friend, if you’re nice to me, I’m nice to you,” Garcia says. “I’m always there for you.”
She plans to represent her classmates as somebody who listens, gets their work done in a timely manner, and respects kindness.
“I believe if others view you as respectful, then you really stand out,” Garcia says.
Chloe Miller
Chloe Miller, ’27, says, “I want everyone to feel involved this school year and make sure there’s something for everyone.”
Miller is a part of ASB, orchestra, and is planning to join Gardening Club and Kindness Club. She was also in ASB in sixth grade and both years of middle school.
She says she “likes to give people a voice and take into consideration what they want.”
“I really want to give them an option, whether it’s on social media by posting a poll and making sure they get a say in what’s happening,” says Miller.
She wants her classmates to know that “[She’s] here if they ever need to talk,” and she wants to “make this the best year for Freshmen.”
