Redwood did battle with the 38th-ranked football team in California; it was close, but ended heartbreakingly.

Redwood had a dominant victory against Centennial last Friday, and it was clear that they were coming into this game with very high expectations. Although some of those expectations were not met, the Rangers gave a good fight.

Let’s look at the positives: quarterback Jordan Arreola, ’26, had a fantastic game with a total of 243 passing yards and rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown. Senior star running back Jimmie Burk, ’26, also had an impressive night with 120 rushing yards, his 2nd game with 120 rushing yards or more.

On the tackling side of things, the Rangers totalled a whopping 68 tackles and 4 tackles for loss, including an interception in the red zone by cornerback London Butler, ’27.

The Rangers were down 28-14, but a 2nd half rally gave the Rangers life, as Arreola threw a 31-yard beauty to Cash Lovenburg, ’27, for a late-game touchdown with 2.25 seconds left.

Although it did not last for long, on 3rd down in the red zone, Clovis North quarterback Lucas Smith threw a catch and run touchdown to his tight end Brody Kruse, ’26. With 24 seconds, the Rangers got to the 40, threw it up, and fell incomplete. The Rangers lost 38-34 and are now 1-1.

Rangers will do battle with Tulare Union at Tulare. Hopefully, the Rangers can bounce back, keep supporting Redwood, and Go Rangers!
