The Rangers have had a great season, and an 8-2 overall record and an EYL championship, and ending the season on a seven-game win streak are very great achievements for first-year head coach Curtis Allen.
The Rangers have been dominating on both sides of the ball the whole season, starting with the rushing attack as star senior running back Jimmie Burk.
Burk has 1,469 total rushing yards on 165 carries, and a total of twenty-one rushing touchdowns.
The passing game was decent during the regular season, as Luke Sanchez, ’26, stepped in for Jordan Arreola, ‘26, in their third game of the season against Tulare Union.
Sanchez finished the season with 693 passing yards, 421 rushing yards, 14 total touchdowns and six interceptions, totaling up to an 83.3 total QB rating.
The receiving core isn’t crazy, but it does the job as it is led by Jarius Brooks, ‘28, who has 327 total receiving yards on twenty-three receptions and five total touchdowns.
The receiver group has a total of 1,331 yards on the season.
The defense has been a force not to be reckoned with, as they are led by linebackers Enrique Segura, ‘26, and Michael White, ‘26, who have combined for 123 tackles on the season.
The defense as a whole has 616 total tackles on the season.
Sacks are led by Landon Guenter, ‘27, who has seven total sacks on the season.
The secondary is also great, as they have ten total interceptions through ten games.
San Luis Obispo has had a decent season, a 6-4 regular season record and a 3-1 record against league opponents, and second place in their league.
Also defeating Lemoore in the first round of playoffs 42-27, not too shabby.
Their main attraction on offense is their running game, as running back Colbin Garrison, ‘26, has 1,391 rushing yards on just 183 carries and eighteen total touchdowns; he averages 7.6 yards per carry.
Quarterback Zion Hegg, ‘27, also knows how to use his legs, as he has 749 rushing yards on 131 carries, he has eight rushing touchdowns, and he averages 5.7 yards per carry.
Speaking of Quarterbacks, the passing game is decent, as Hegg has passed for 744 yards for nine touchdowns and just four interceptions with a 57 percent completion rate; he has a 95 QB rating on the season.
On the receiving side of things, it’s average. They are led by receiver Andrew De La Motte, ‘26, who has ten receptions and three touchdowns.
The receiving core has 1040 receiving yards as a whole.
On to the defense, it’s looking good for San Luis Obispo. Led by linebacker Gus Moody, ‘26, who has a whopping 99 total tackles through the regular season.
The defense as a whole has 729 total tackles on the season.
Sacks are led by Middle linebacker Matthew Milner, ‘28, who has 5.5 total sacks on the season; the team has 23.5 sacks as a whole.
The secondary is an exception, as they have eight total interceptions through the season.
The Rangers will battle the Tigers on November 14th at the Mineral King Bowl, as kickoff starts at 7 pm.
Will the Rangers keep their playoff hopes alive? Show up to find out!
