Redwood’s women volleyball team triumphs in a thrilling 3-1 victory over Frontier High School, marking their first win in the brand new gym. Players share their excitement and thoughts on this monumental game.

#10 Ashlyn Guenter celebrates a point

Redwood’s women volleyball team takes home the win against Frontier High School winning 3-1.

There were 4 sets, making the non-league game very intense. Not only was this their first game of the season, but it was also the first game in the new gym!

Alexis Rico ’25 was asked how it feels to be playing the first game in the new gym , she says, “It was a little scary and were some nerves since there was so many people and they were all cheering.” Rico further explains how even though it was a little scary it was also super exciting and fun.

Audrey Hyde ’24, one of the captains, starts of by saying how the game went really well. She says, “We definitely played our best and every single girl contributed. We ran some fast sets we’ve been working on and we had some great defensive plays that were amazing!” Hyde continues explaining that the team is very strong and can’t wait to see how far they’ll go.

Payton Short ’25 thinks that “The game was good, we continued to fight even when we were down and we pulled out the win even though it was tough.” Short goes on by saying that the team will go on to face some pretty tough teams but they know how to pull through and bring out the win.

Devyn Castaneda ’24 also one of the captains, starts by saying “I love our gym way better than Ridgeview’s, it’s nice to actually be in a high school gym on our high school campus.” Castaneda continues to say that the team has a very good connection to each other and are all best friends.
