As the cool weather rolls in, the Varsity Wrestling Season gets closer, and wrestling coach Dave Watts has high expectations this year.
Wrestling can be a physically demanding sport, as competitors must maintain a specific weight for their respective weight class and possess considerable endurance.
Watts says, “We’ve been working around everything that has to do with wrestling and getting ourselves into shape for the season that’s coming up.”
Tryouts can be tough due to the limited space on the Varsity Team.
However, some new talent has broken through the team, all of whom have a shot at making the varsity team.
The Wrestling team’s biggest strength is its numbers. Redwood has 4 to 5 wrestlers per weight class, and some are state returners, including Brody Preisendorf, Johnny Benita, and Enrique Segura.
Watts says, “Just work hard and follow the process.”
With high Expectations, the Varsity Wrestling team is getting ready for this new 25-26 Season.
