Redwood’s Varsity Football team goes into week four of the season with yet a win under the Ranger’s belt. Tonight’s game against the Tulare Western Mustangs keeps hope alive for the Rangers.

Head Coach Kevin Scharton says, “We really need a victory. A win solves a lot of problems, but you know the last three teams we played were very very good football teams. All three of those teams are probably gonna be deep in the playoffs, they’re very highly ranked. We just got to keep pushing forward, we have a tough schedule. We’re still looking for that first win and this team will be no different.”

With the team continuously working hard day in and day out, there is room for improvement defensively. Cash Rico, ’25, says, “I just feel like we got to play hard and just play aggressively and just make sure we get the guy to the ground.”

The team’s chemistry is playing a huge role in the way the team has been performing. Cade Everett, ’26, says, “Our team chemistry is our weakness right now and also our attitude.”

Everett says “I’m a receiver and I think to help I can become a leader and help people want to win more.”

Matthew Soto, ’26, says “I think we have our ups and our downs and I think after our downs our ups are a lot better. Even though we’ve had our struggles we’ll come back and be a lot better.”

Staying with the hope and confidence of the team Soto says, “Our record doesn’t reflect how good of a team we are and yes we have three losses but we’re also a great team and we’ll prove everyone wrong.”
