In the 2023-2024 school years, new teachers reflect on how semester one went.

Starting a school year with a new environment, new students, and new peers can be a challenging, yet fun experience. Some of the new teachers here at Redwood got the chance to feel welcome and start their new journey last semester!

Mr. Jones, an integrated Math 1 teacher, is “loving” the work here at Redwood. This is not his first year teaching, but his 10th year teaching, though it is his first year at Redwood.

Mr. Jones says, “The students are great and all of the staff I have worked with are excellent.”

Rangers’ excitement has paid off because Mr. Jones says, “The rally’s at this school are much better than the ones I have experienced at my previous schools.”

Homecoming, Cowhide, Harvest, Love Week! Redwood High School offers so many fun events not only for the students to enjoy but also for the hard-working teachers.

Mr. Jackson, a Biology and Physical Earth Science teacher says, “This has been the best year of teaching in my career. I got to experience my first Cowhide, loved the enthusiasm of the school rallies, and just enjoyed getting to know my students!”

“I would say that the homecoming rally was one of my favorite things because there was so much legitimate entertainment.” Says, Mr. Jones.

Every new semester means new goals, maybe even a fresh start. Those goals can be either to make learning fun or to get to know students and staff better.

“For this semester my goal is to be a better teacher than I was last semester. I have learned a few things about the students at this school and I have made some minor changes to the ways I do things that will help me better serve the students at this school site,” says Mr. Jones.

This is a great mentality to have, so applaud to Mr. Jones!

Mr. Jackson says, “Personally, my goal is to continue to improve my own teaching practices so I can provide my students with the best opportunity for success!”
