The Rangers’ victory highlights their exceptional talent and teamwork throughout the season. This championship adds to Redwood High School’s proud athletic tradition, showcasing the dedication and skill of its student-athletes.

Samuel Feierbach, ’25, is a three-year varsity member of Redwood’s swim team, competing in the 100-meter backstroke and the 50-meter freestyle. At the Division II Valley championship, he shaved off precious seconds from his times as a result of tapered training leading up to the meet.

“We gradually swam fewer yards during practice so we could have more energy,” Feierbach said. He also reflected on the emotional weight of the win, “It feels pretty good, especially since we lost Valley last year to Garces [Memorial High Scool] for water polo. It feels good to come back and come out on top.”

His words capture not only personal redemption but also the team’s drive to reclaim their place at the top. In swimming, where split seconds can change everything, hard work and mindset make all the difference.

Feierbach summed it up with the type of competitive edge that fuels champions: “Find someone you want to beat and beat them.”

Cody Burton, ‘25, is also a third year varsity member of both the water polo and swim team.

“We were already really close. This team was really good because of how the relationships were already strong,” Burton said.

For the Redwood Rangers, this championship is more than a trophy, it’s a testament to perseverance, camaraderie, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

“Practice sucks, but winning is worth it,” Burton said.
