After about a year and a half on zoom the Redwood orchestra program is excited to move past the pandemic.

After playing on zoom for so long they are officially back. When talking about how they felt about being on zoom, Rose Candelaria ‘24 says, ” It was a lot more complicated because everyone was muted when in reality orchestra is like a community, we all rely on each other.”

Lillian Weese ‘22 added, ” It was really nerve wrecking and I didn’t know how it would work.”

After having to go through middle school on zoom everyone must have been nervous. Samuel Noricumbo ‘25, ” I wasn’t really nervous, I actually really liked it because I was finally able to listen to all the instruments come together and make this amazing music.”

Candelaria ‘24 added, ” Honestly I was more nervous getting onto zoom than coming back, honestly it was a lot more welcoming so the nervousness just went away.”

We all know some students loved zoom but most in orchestra can agree that coming back to school was one of the best things that could have happened. Weese ‘22, “ I would choose school over zoom every time.”

The orchestra director Rodney Yokota adds, “ It was hard, we had to do things completely different, but I think students were definitely happy to be back.”
